Our lion of Judah has a very strong side, we should too
Today I want to talk to you about “If I have a wrong image of Christ, I will have a wrong image of me.” I want to blow up your image of who Jesus is using the scripture. When I was young I was shown with great emphasis our Jesus as a gentle lamb. And He is. Can you just see the painting now, timid, very thin, meek Jesus holding a baby lamb. I was surprised to see in the Sistine Chapel a painting of Jesus who looked like a great warrior. I didn’t know. Growing up I wasn’t shown the stronger version of Jesus. The lion. The man who stood opposed to the Pharisees, who was unafraid of the King, calling him a “fox.” The Jesus who braded a whip and went toe-to-toe with a room full of men. And maybe Christians have been afraid to stand up for right, and stand against those who oppose God’s grace with the vigor Jesus showed. Get ready, this may greatly change your thinking.
