Dear Living Word Family,
Can you believe it? Well, I guess we can, because we are a people of faith! Our amazing State leadership has announced the reopening of our state has begun. The Arizona Attorney General has written specifically to the issue of church and free speech gatherings, and we are staying informed. If you’ve heard the rumor, we will be back in the sanctuary for Mother’s Day, you heard right. Here is a clear picture of what our services look like this weekend. Notice that TIMES have changed, and on Sunday you will be able to come inside the sanctuary!
ALERT! NEW SERVICE TIMES!!!
Friday @ 7:00 pm with Pastor Scot | Drive-In Church followed by Incredibles 2
Saturday @ 7:00 pm with Pastor Jason | Drive-In Church followed by Incredibles 2
Sunday @ 8:30 am with Dr. Tom | Sanctuary and Drive-In Church
Sunday @ 9:30 am with Pastor Jason | Sanctuary and Drive-In Church
Sunday @ 10:45 am with Pastor Scot | Sanctuary and Drive-In Church
We are continuing to hold church services as a Drive-In option because we realize this is still a better option for some. For others, we welcome you to come into the sanctuary. For those coming inside, there are things to be aware of.
If you are coming inside, wearing a mask is recommended, but it is voluntary. Our volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves. We don’t wear them out of fear, but instead, because the world is watching closely, we want to show them our love by being above reproach. Here are the CDC recommendations concerning masks.
We are asking that everyone sit in family/friend groups and maintain proper social distancing from other groups. This weekend, we believe our spaces will be at 25% of capacity. The children’s areas will not be available yet, but our Children’s ministry will continue to stream services online. For this weekend, we are asking you to keep your children with you. We want this to work for you and be fun, so bring them in the sanctuary. Also, in the foyer, there will be sitting areas. Bring toys or things to keep your children engaged and having fun, while you enjoy the service on the screen.
As Arizona opens larger assemblies like movie theaters, they are being asked to do temperature screening. We will have four stations set up to help move quickly. It will only take a second and is done without any contact. Drive-In Church is still available for all services to anyone not feeling well, those most vulnerable, or those with a fever. We, of course, will stand with you in prayer for complete healing–our prayer tent is in the east parking lot. Our Jesus is our healer! AMEN! Please have grace for this temperature screening. This is something we’ve not done before.
During the weeks we have been open with Drive-In Church, we have been deep cleaning and sanitizing the inside of the church. Every pew and every carpet has been deep steam cleaned and sanitized. Walls have been scrubbed. Every tile floor in every area has been deep cleaned and sanitized as well. We have used professional companies as well as our amazing staff who have rolled up their sleeves and done some great spring cleaning. We will continue to do extensive sanitation in all areas.
“I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” (Psalms 9:1)
The Lord has done great things for us. He is our canopy and protection, our shelter from the storm. He has promised no plague will come near our homes. He has caused His people to enjoy plenty in a season of famine. Let us each take a moment to thank our Lord and tell someone of some of the good things He has done for us.
We are continuing our partnership with the Red Cross, helping families in need. We are delivering another 300 masks this week to Project C.U.R.E. for Banner Hospitals. Last week we began partnering with Mesa Public Schools, where we provided 200 at-risk families with food boxes and much-needed housing and personal supplies. This partnership will continue over the coming weeks.
No matter how much food we have given away, even more is coming in. You have been so very gracious, and it is showing great love to our community. We are pleased to announce that Safeway has reached out to get involved with what you are doing, and they are donating 10 pallets (that is no typo) of food to us this week.
For those of you who have been faithfully enjoying the live stream, we are so grateful for you. We are excited that God has provided a way for us during this crazy time. Still, there really is nothing quite like worshiping, praying, and hearing the Word of God all together as the Bible encourages. This week we are excited to start the process of returning us all to the gathering in the House of God.
Psalms 91:4 “He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
Psalms 91:2 “I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!'”
Psalms 71:3 “Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress.”
Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.”
